Board Members
Meetings Held: London and Bradford
Commitment: Up to 24 days per annum
Salary: £4,500 per annum
About Us
At Habinteg, inclusion drives all that we do, be that our engagement with staff, the services we offer to tenants, the environments we create, and the homes we deliver. One in four people in the UK are disabled but most homes are designed to exclude them. We believe in designing homes and creating neighbourhoods that everyone can share and enjoy. We have 3350 homes across the country from Tyneside to Cornwall. We are the co-creators and champions of the Lifetime Homes Standard, sponsors of the Wheelchair Housing Design Guide, and we provide expert training and consultancy through our Centre for Accessible Environments (CAE) in-house team.
The Role
We are seeking to appoint up to 3 board members. The board meets 8 times a year. Additionally, each board member is expected to sit on a committee or act as a board champion for a service area or cross cutting theme. Committees meet 4-5 times each year. From time to time board members will participate in task and finish groups. The commitment required averages 2 days per month. There are several areas where we would like to strengthen board knowledge/skills. We are seeking candidates that can bring a wealth of experience from one or more of the following disciplines
About you
One of the appointed members will be a customer ambassador. The customer ambassador ideally will bring first-hand experience of being a social housing tenant. As important will be their detailed understanding of the housing issues affecting disabled people.
All candidates must share our values of being agile, accountable, ambitious and attentive. You will offer non-executive director experience, with strategic foresight, strong business acumen, accomplished people skills, and enthusiasm for shaping our future. You will have the ability to engage with our key stakeholders and be an effective ambassador for Habinteg. You will be open to different viewpoints, yet sound when making decisions.
We strive to maintain an inclusive board. Currently women and young people (under 40) are under-represented. We would welcome applications from these groups
