Habinteg, commissioned by Thomas Pocklington Trust, has written a design guide for developing housing for people with sight loss.
The guide details over a hundred ways that good housing design can improve the lives of people with sight loss. It is the first comprehensive guidance that draws on extensive research with visually impaired people.
The guide is aimed at all those involved in providing accommodation services to people experiencing sight loss, including registered social landlords, architects, building technicians, and groups who provide support services to those with visual impairment. Housing for People with Sight Loss provides practical recommendations for designing better homes for coping with sight loss.
The Thomas Pocklington Trust has also published a research findings report which gives a brief overview of the design guide.
The guide is published by IHS BRE Press, Ref: EP84, ISBN 978-1-84806-029-6, Paperback, £40.
