£500 bursary available for training and skills development

Northern Housing Consortium’s Unlocking Success Bursary Scheme is offering eligible tenants the opportunity to improve their skillset with help from a £500 bursary.

The Consortium, a membership body of housing associations and local authorities, set up the scheme to give tenants a helping hand onto the employment ladder.

Who can apply?

To apply for the bursary you must be:

  • aged 16 years or older
  • a tenant of a social housing landlord, like Habinteg
  • using the grant to develop your learning and skills, at any level.

The bursary gives priority to people who are:

  • in care, or a care leaver
  • receiving Income Support, Universal Credit, Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payments, as well as Employment and Support Allowance.

If you’re already on an apprenticeship programme or your training is funded by your employer, you won’t be able to apply for the bursary.

Learning and living costs

The £500 bursary can be used to pay your learning costs.

If you’re already enrolled in an area of learning, the bursary could help to fund your books, equipment, travel costs, childcare or other living costs that will help you finish your studies.

How to apply

We’ll support you with the application process and confirm that you are a Habinteg tenant.

You’ll need to provide a short-written piece or a short video explaining why you’re applying for the bursary.

The deadline for applications is 5pm, Friday 30 June 2023 .

If you meet the eligibility criteria and would like to apply, email customerengagement@habinteg.org.uk or contact a member of the team on 0300 365 3100. Good luck.
