Get to know our Neighbourhood Managers: meet Amy McEvoy

Our Central and East Neighbourhood Manager, Amy McEvoy, tells us about the best part of her role, which Habinteg scheme she’d like to live on and her advice for keeping good mental well-being.

How would you describe your job?
Supporting my Neighbourhood Coordinators to ensure we collectively provide quality housing services for our tenants. I also make sure key performance indicators are achieved across the Central and East region.

What’s the best thing about your job?
The variety! I never know what I will be dealing with each day.

How many tenants’ lives do you change in a week?
I would like to think, with the help of my team, that we make a change to all the tenants we have contact with. However, if I can change one tenants’ life, however, small the change, I see this as great job satisfaction.

What are the challenges of your job?
The geographical distance of my schemes means it’s a challenge to get around to all schemes and visit all Neighbourhood Coordinators on their patch as often as I would like.

Which scheme in your region would you like to live on and why?
It would have to be Quinn Way in Letchworth as it’s situated in a lovely residential area and ideally located next to a retail park!

You’ve got a bonus holiday for being incredibly outstanding at your job, how do you spend it?
Somewhere hot and sunny with my friends.

What qualities make a good neighbour?
One who looks out for you and is considerate.

What’s your favourite Friday night takeaway dish?
A chicken tikka roll with chips.

How do you think your Habinteg colleagues describe you?
I would like to think, approachable, decisive, helpful and friendly.

If you could choose, who would you most like to live next door to, and why
The British chef Gordon Ramsay - I can imagine he has great barbecues at his garden parties.

It was World Mental Health Day on 10 October, what self-care steps do you take to look after your mental wellbeing?
I make sure I get to my spin classes as this helps clear my mind and I feel better for having exercised.

With Bonfire Night is coming up, what advice around staying safe do you have for Habinteg tenants?
Wrap up warm, go to a local council-run bonfire and fireworks show and ensure your pets are safe indoors.
