Habinteg tumble dryer gives tenant independence

Doing the laundry is part of everyday life, but for our Hull tenant Maggie Gold it was becoming a bit of a struggle.

After her own tumble dryer broke, Maggie, 78, started using the communal laundry facilities on her Park Hill scheme, but was finding it difficult to walk there.

“When I found out that I could apply for a tumble dryer through Habinteg’s Tenant Support Fund, I was really happy to hear there was help available,” said Maggie.

Now, with a new tumble dryer installed in her home, bought with money from the fund, Maggie can carry on doing her laundry without requiring additional help.

Tenant Support Fund

Our Tenant Support Fund is a pot of money set aside for tenants who are in financial hardship to buy key items, such as a fridge, cooker, washing machine, tumble dryer, or table and chairs.

The fund can also be used to help you purchase new job essentials and school uniforms and school shoes.

Tenants can apply for the fund through their Neighbourhood team, who will help them with the application.

Maggie applied for the fund after hearing about it from her Neighbourhood Team at a Habinteg coffee morning on her scheme.

Keeping her independence

"Getting the new tumble dryer from Habinteg has helped me immensely as I’ve been struggling to get to the communal laundry room to do my drying," Maggie said.

"I feel very grateful for the generosity of Habinteg and the Tenant Support Fund, it has helped me keep my independence."
