Habinteg’s Cornwall scheme gets new doors, windows and kitchens

Tenants at our Cornwall Crofty Close scheme have seen their homes transformed with new features that have given them better energy efficiency levels, as well as a smart new look.

Nearly all the homes at Crofty Close have been recently fitted with new uPVC, double glazed doors and windows, which will reduce drafts and help reduce energy loss. They replace older wooden doors and windows.

Of the 31 houses and bungalows on the scheme, our contractors have installed new windows at 29 of the homes, as well as 25 front doors and 27 rear doors. They have also installed new kitchen cabinetry in 25 homes.

Positive feedback

“The tenants are over the moon about the improvements,” said our Cornwall Neighbourhood Manager Tracy Ford.

Crofty Close resident Peter Chapman said: “The work has made the homes much warmer. I really believe the improvements will make a substantial difference to warmth of our homes come winter. We certainly need it as you get four seasons in a day here.”

Peter lives in a three-bedroom house, which has had a new front door, windows, kitchen cabinetry and a kitchen cooker hood with extractor fan. He has been a resident at the scheme since it opened 31 years ago.

“The contractors have done a really good job, I’m very happy with the work they’ve done,” he added.
