How to use Dimplex storage heaters efficiently

With the cost of living rising, we know that every penny counts, especially when it comes to heating your home.

As many Habinteg tenants have Dimplex Quantum night storage heaters, we want to help you make the most of them, so you can stay warm without breaking the bank.

Dimplex Quantum heaters may seem like the standard night storage heaters you might have used in the past but they’re much more efficient, saving you money on your electricity bills while keeping your home comfortable.

These heaters don’t just store heat; they also have:

  • Thermostats and a digital programmer which makes them responsive to your needs.
  • A  system that, based on your temperature and timing choices, will work out how much electricity to store overnight.
  • An internal thermostat that ensures that when your room reaches the required temperature, they turn off and retain the rest of the heat it has stored for later.
  • Good insulation, meaning less heat escapes when it isn’t needed.

Thanks to these efficiencies, running costs of Dimplex Quantum heaters are around 27% lower than standard night storage heaters.

Getting started

Turn the heater’s two wall switches on and keep them on, including overnight. This will keep the heater’s programmer active. It doesn’t mean it will be producing heat 24 hours a day.

Avoid turning the heater off and on at the wall during colder months as this can hinder the intelligent charging function.

Heater controls are on the top right of the heater under a flap. If you press the dial, the display screen will show you the thermostat target temperature and timer mode. When the heater is active, Heating on shows at the bottom of the screen. Heating off shows that the heater's not providing heat, as set by the programmer.

Learn the basics

Dimplex heaters have an Advance button, which will turn the heater to Heating on, bringing forward the start of the next time period, and a Boost option (found by pressing menu), which allows you to choose the target temperature and the duration of the boost (in minutes).

Our Dimplex storage heater webpage  has seven useful videos on basic functions including how to set the temperature and timer modes.

Finally, remember to leave a gap of 30cm in front of your heater to prevent a fire hazard.
