What is a tenancy audit and why is it important?

Since April 2023 we’ve carried out tenancy audits with just under half of all Habinteg tenants - that’s around 1,700 meetings.

The remaining audits will be completed by the end of 2024.

A tenancy audit is a survey which involves a member of our Neighbourhood Team visiting your home to complete a brief questionnaire with you to ensure we have the correct details for you and your household.

It's an important meeting which is carried out over two years to help us improve your homes, communal spaces and our services.

What’s the survey about?

The survey should take around 30 minutes to complete. As part of the survey, a member of your Neighbourhood Team will:

  • review your identification
  • check that we have your most up-to-date contact details
  • check the maintenance and condition of your home
  • check for overoccupancy or underoccupancy
  • signpost you to other services you might need.

Donna Holmes, Habinteg’s Head of Housing, said: “The tenancy audit is an opportunity for you to discuss any issues you may have with your home which you may not have reported previously.

“For example, if you are struggling to maintain your garden we will capture that information and work on a solution with you.”

Appointments

As your landlord, we’re required to carry out tenancy audits to ensure your home is safe, so all Habinteg tenants will receive an appointment letter about their tenancy audit.

Please try to keep to the appointment. If you can’t make the appointment for any reason, please contact us, using the details given on the appointment letter, to arrange another time and date.

If you haven’t responded to the first letter, we’ll send a second one as it's very important that we carry out this duty as your landlord.
