If you're looking for help to pay your household bills, there are a number of government financial support packages for low-income households, pensioners and disabled people.
As well as the everyday outgoings listed on this page, we also have a page dedicated to energy bill support.
The government's Cost of Living payments ended in February 2024, and there are no current plans to reinstate them.
If you need help to lower your water bill or help to pay your bill, CCW has a number of different support packages to help.
Go to the CCW website for more information.
If you live in England, call them on 0300 034 2222.
If you live in Wales, call them on 0300 034 3333.
There is help available for households that are struggling with the cost of living, energy or water bills and back to school items.
For more information on how you access some of those grants, visit Turn2Us, a national charity providing practical help to people who are struggling financially.
If you are over 75 and you (or your partner who lives at the same address) get Pension Credit, you can apply for a free TV Licence.
If you, or someone you live with, are blind (severely sight impaired), you’re eligible to apply for a 50% reduction in the cost of your TV Licence.
For further information on how to apply for a free or reduced TV Licence, call 0300 790 6117.
If you or someone in your household claims Universal Credit or is in receipt of benefits, you could switch to a social tariff.
Social tariffs are cheaper broadband and phone packages.
You can apply for most tariffs online, or call your provider and ask to switch.
To see what social tariff your provider offers, visit the Ofcom website. Alternatively, call your broadband or mobile provider.
If you receive housing benefit or the housing element of Universal Credit, but need more financial support with housing costs, you can apply for a Discretionary Housing Payment through your local council.
These one-off payments are given at the discretion of your local council.
Habinteg’s Rent Assist Team can help you access this payment. Find out more about how we can help.
