Cathy Smith — Local tenant representative and Chair of JSIG

Cathy joined JSIG after becoming a tenant representative for her Merseyside scheme. She was motivated by the group's focus on tenant engagement and empowerment. She has 40 years of experience in disability advocacy on local and national committees.

Cathy sees her role as the chair of JSIG as taking the emotion that tenants feel, whether it’s about repairs or planned work, and using it at a strategic level to drive change. Find out more about Cathy.

 

John Walsh — Editorial Panel Member and JSIG tenant member

John, a Hackney resident, joined JSIG to improve tenant liaison with management, improve the issues around repairs and maintenance and reform Habinteg's centralised management approach.

John views JSIG as a platform for fostering constructive dialogue between senior management and tenants to advocate for tenant concerns. Find out more about John.

 

Kerry Thompson — Local tenant representative and JSIG tenant member

Kerry, a long-time Habinteg tenant and disabled activist living in Milton Keynes, joined JSIG in 2022. She was part of the group that helped develop the framework to bring JSIG to life.

Kerry joined JSIG to be a part of the important conversations within Habinteg. She believes tenant voices should be at the heart of Habinteg's decision-making. Find out more about Kerry.

 

Peter Harris — Scrutiny panel member and JSIG tenant member 

Peter is a Habinteg resident in Hull and has been a Habinteg tenant for 26 years. Peter joined JSIG to address the issues of repairs and maintenance and higher rents.

He believes that JSIG gives Habinteg tenants a voice, training and accessibility to enable tenants to help shape Habinteg’s services. Find out more about Peter.
